300 years worth of agricultural tradition is what the Höhn family in Dotzheim holds them proud. Winemaking slowly played a pivotal part in their family back in 1979 through the efforts Senior Wilhelm Höhn when he first to offered Dotzheimer wine in the bottle again. The winery is located in Freudenberg and is lead by agricultural engineer and winemaker Jürgen Höhn.
Weingut Höhn GbR is divided into 8 vineyards. DOTZHEIM JEWISH CHERRY where the varieties Riesling, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, dark fields and Cabernet Savignon are farmed. SCHIERSTEINER HELL where most of the Riesling grows – a small area with Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc and just under 1.50 ha Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. FRAUENSTEINER HERRNBERG which is divided into the varieties Pinot Noir, Riesling, Merlot, Chardonnay.
Newly acquired property includes ELTVILLER SONNENBERG which is exposed to a lot of sunshine, hence, the vines get their best water and nutrient supply. KIEDRICHER SANDGRUB which produces fine Riesling wines with elegant acidity, ERBACHER MARCOBRUNN whose name is driven from the old German word “Marka” meaning border.
HATTENHEIMER MANNBERG where full-bodied and spicy wines with a complex fruit component are found and lastly HATTENHEIMER NUSSBRUNNEN which produces bouquet-rich wines with a multi-layered palette of flavors.
Just recently Weingut Höhn GbR graced the Shanghai Awards 2019 and brought home for itself Gold Medal honors for Hattenheimer Mannberg Riesling trocken “Holzfass” 2017, Erbacher Marcobrunn Riesling Spätlese trocken “Holzfass” 2017 and Schiersteiner Hölle Riesling Gewächs trocken 2017, a further proof how Weingut Höhn GbR holds pride in their product’s quality.
