“Ever since I can remember, viticulture and wine making has been part of my life through my parents and grandparents. Following this path I became a viticulturist and enologist. My task is to give my knowledge to my son to continue my mission who has chosen this beautiful occupation as well. I have been producing my own wines since 1998 and established my own company in 2013. Under the brand name PAANGOLD I started to sell my wines. Producing sweet wines are the closest to my heart, especially Aszu wines. Wines are produced from high quality own grapes coming from my own vineyards. I believe in the unique givens of Tokaj Wine Region, moreover wines are from this region finds their best place on the World’s wine market.”    Pauleczki Antal, owner – enologist  

Our company PAANGOLD WINERY, (Antal Pauleczki Wine-manufacture LTD) is located in the village of Tolcsva in the historical wine region of Tokaj-Foothills. Our company is engaged in the production of handcrafted wines and in the frame of a family business. We have 28 hectares of vineyards. Vine growing and processing, as well as the production of wines, is also under control of the family with great care. Our wines are made of Furmint, and Sárgamuskotály (Yellow Muscat) grape varieties.

The proportion of our plantations have differed from the average of the wine region because the Yellow muscat is cultivated on thirteen hectares, the Furmint is twelve, and the Hárslevelű is grown on three hectares. Although the cultivation of Yellow muscat poses a higher production risk, our consumers like it very much, and that is why we decided on these rates. We know that only the precise cultivation technique, careful green work, and crop limitation can provide the raw material that will be worthy of the name „Tokaji” when it is made into wine.

We are proud of producing  historical value wines. Our wines are stored in wooden barrels and cellars in the World Heritage Sites. Our goal is to make unique, handcraft wines, adapted to today’s modern taste, using modern technology for the satisfaction of our consumers. We are specialised for Aszú Wine production what we age in barrels for longer time than the time given by the law.

The centuries-old work of vine-growing and winemaking in this area has created a tradition and is a must for the succession of this heritage.

The activity of our company is guided by these traditional values, the preservation of the excellent quality of wine. However, we cannot ignore the newer and newer challenges of our time, the often changing taste of wine consumers.

In our family winery, we await our guests in the most beautiful part of the Tolcsva cellar line (enjoying the protection of World Heritage since 2002) in Tokaj-Hegyalja

In our wine cellar for 40 or 14 people, our guests can get acquainted with the excellent wines of our company.

Very recently, Pauleczki Antal Bormanufaktúra Kft. – Paangold has been recognized and awarded THREE GOLD Medal and a SILVER Medal by China Awards 2020 – Shanghai Paper.

Sweet Hungarian white wine with protected denomination of origin

TECHNOLOGY: Our wines are produced from own grapes cultivated on 28 hectares. Harvest by hand in the different maturing periods between September – December.

During wine production we combine tradition with modern technology. During Aszu production the „mother – son” grape is harvested from the same vineyard. We use must from the same grape where the shrivelled and botrytised berries are coming from. All aszú wines are terroir wines. First we produce the must then with a special crusher we finely torn the skin of the aszu berries – during procedure the seeds do not crushed – . 24 hours maceration, then taking all the seeds with a filter from the top. Controlled fermentation in stainless steel tank. After fining and filtering 2 weeks slow fermentation in barrel.
We age the wine in 25-30 years old 250 litre barrels for 18 years. Every year we take off wine from the barrel, wash them and put them back until bottling.

COLOR: Deep amber

SCENT: Very intense advanced scent. Its aromas are blood orange, tangerine, dried peach, glucose, roasted walnuts and stony minerality.

TASTE: Its structure shows a nice balance thanks to its higher acidity and full body, it has an elegant structure. Its aromas are complex, not excessive, beautiful honey, ripe citrus, mango, small herbs, walnut, hazelnut notes, metallic minerality and mild medical character.

AROMA: Very intense developed aroma dominated by beautiful yellow flowers and honey notes, behind them you can feel apple compote, quince, mild herbal character and smoky roasted walnut-hazelnut aromas from the barrel maturation.

TASTE: Its structure is characterized by a high acid and full body as well as a very dense oily texture. It tastes of honey, tobacco, Turkish honey, roasted walnuts and hazelnuts, and has a small herbal, medicinal character. In the aftertaste, the wine closes with a nice metallic mineral.

TECHNOLOGY: Our wines are produced from own grapes cultivated on 28 hectares. Harvest by hand in the middle of December. During wine production we combine tradition with modern technology. Wine was fermented under controlled temperature in stainless steel tank and kept in tank for 6 months. After we put the wine into 250 hl 25 year old barrel whereas we aged 5 puttonyos furmint aszu before.

COLOUR: Golden

AROMA:  Intense aroma of fresh grape and dried apricot on the nose.

FLAVOUR: Balanced structure, with acidity slightly above moderate intensity complemented by an elegant body. Characterized by dried apricot, honey and quince on the palate, accompanied by minerality. A wine with great sugar – alcohol – acidity balance. Very long finish.

TASTE: IN ADDITION TO A serious residual sugar, the structure of the wine is characterized by a moderately lively acid, full body and oily texture. On the palate honey, propolis, marshmallow, Turkish honey, hazelnuts, orange jam, candied citrus peel, a mild medical character with a metallic-mineral finish.

Question 1: Do you already export to China ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in China ?

Even the company was established in 2013, most of our wines were bottled at the end of 2018, so we started the domestic and international sales in 2019. So we are relatively new players on the market. We already have some partners in Europe and sold our 3 puttonyos Sárgamuskotály Tokaji Aszú 1999 wine to Weifang, China. As our sortiment is quite colourful, everybody finds his taste. Our fresh Furmint and Sárgamuskotály wines, Late Harvest Furmint, Dry Szamorodni and 4, 5 and 6 puttonyos vintage Aszú wines are waiting for new importers and distributors from all over the world, including Asia.

Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?

We are very proud of the heritage Antal Pauleczki – the enologist received from his parents and ancestors. The speciality of our winery is obviously the traditional Tokaji Aszú, especially the 6 puttonyos. The uniqueness of these wines that most of them were aged in 15-19 years before bottling, putting on the market at the age of 17-20 years. In this case customers do not need to wait for bottle aging, we do it for them. The wines are ready to drink and still have great potential to store.

Question 3: When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years ?

We started to export our products last Summer. It is not an easy job, we need to find the best channels to sell our wines. We move forward step by step and hope to rise the number of customers in the near future, to bring forward the beautiness, uniqueness and quality of our Traditional Tokaji Aszú wines. We believe the acknowledgements received at China Awards 2020 will help us to sell our wines primariliy in Asia and hopefully other continents as well.
