Philips Lighting, now known as Signify has expanded its exhibition space at the 2nd China International Import Expo in order to present lighting and Internet of Things solutions that helps build smart cities and organizations.

John Wang, senior vice president at Signify and President of Signify China thinks that the presence of their new company name was the greatest achievement they had in last year’s conference.

The company has completed changing its name in May 2018 after becoming an independent and separate listed company on Amsterdam’s Euronext Stock Exchange, and has retained the brand name Philips for its lighting products.

The company is looking forward to enhancing their future business prospects with local partners. Moreover, they believe that they can build momentum for our most influential technologies to help China address its rising energy and environmental challenges.

China is already the second-largest market and another home market for Signify. It has set up manufacturing plants as well as research capabilities to develop new technologies locally. It has also become an important market that highlights research and development very well.

Signify’s Shanghai research and development center, with around 1,000 staff, is the second largest for the Netherlands-headquartered company, and it also operates four manufacturing sites in China.

Since Signify first came to China, it has been innovating, producing and selling light products in the country. Today, it has already taken initiative in , taking the leading position in sustainability and innovations in lighting systems and services for Internet of Things devices and infrastructure.
Signify has also been venturing into conventional lighting to LED’s while creating new profit areas for the next generation products.

It was in the first ever CIIE when Signify introduced its Li-Fi technology that uses light waves instead of radio waves to transmit data. This technology is already on a trial basis at selected offices at the China Academy of Building Research in Beijing.

Meanwhile, in this year’s CIIE, second generation Li-fi products and solutions will be presented aiming for offices, hospitality, retail, industry and health care markets.

Another highlight is the smart pole solution for smart city infrastructure upgrade offering assets and environment monitoring, as well as the enhanced security options such as incident detection. It enables multiple light scenes to adjust lighting standards providing flexibility with centrally controlled dashboard to manage different scenes.

Shenzhen LiteMagic Technologies Co was acquired by Signify last year to control and manage lighting on over 40 rooftops on buildings alongside the Huangpu River and on the Yangpu, Nanpu and Xupu bridges. These products are currently used overseas to empower Signify’s urban lighting solutions.

Signify is looking to improving partnerships with leading companies. They are looking forward to extending their partnership with China. They will look into exploring an open approach to trade and innovation that will enable mutual benefits and prosperity.
